At the office of the Adviser to the Prime Minister on PIII and the National Innovation Council, Vikas drives several initiatives focussed on Innovations, Rural Broadband Applications, ICT in Justice Delivery, Heritage of Mahatma Gandhi, and the applications of Social Media. Vikas firmly believes that Technology is a great social leveller and evangelises the use of Technology for Education, Rural Development, and in the Government. More recently, he has been driving and promoting the use of Social Media by the Government.
Vikas was earlier part of the National Knowledge Commission, an advisory body to the Prime Minister. Prior to the NKC, he worked with Dr. Ashok Jhunjhunwala at IIT Madras, on several projects in the area of technology applications for rural development and was part of starting a Rural BPO Company.
Apart from his professional work, Vikas volunteers with the Sri Sathya Sai Organisation, Delhi-NCR. He has delivered several workshops on Human Values at various schools and colleges. He has also designed an Online Course in Human Values and wishes to spend more time at teaching and delivering training programs on Human Values.
Vikas holds an MBA from the Sri Sathya Sai University and a B.Tech (ICT) from the Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology. As a student, he interned at the Reliance Life Sciences Research Labs, IIT Madras and the University of Cambridge, UK.
