Critical Race Theory in the Digital Age
Critical race theory (CRT) has been at the forefront of examining inequalities and injustices in education. While use of CRT has been limited in current and previous research to how it plays out in educational policy and the physical classrooms, there has not been an examination of CRT in the digital world. Without face to face contact some of the founding tenets of CRT are not applicable. This presentation poses questions of how CRT can be altered to examine the inequalities present in the new digital age. With many course being presented in online formats and the popularity of social networking within classmates, how is CRT useful and what needs to change? This paper is a invitation to this discussion.
